Ephesians

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; – Eph. 2:1

Chapter 1

Paul gives thanks for the faithfulness of the Ephesians and thanks to God for his wisdom in making a way available for mankind to be partakers of his eternal life.

Chapter 2

Paul explains that while we were dead in sins we have been saved by grace have have become part of the household of God.

Chapter 3

Paul explains the mystery of faith in christ that he has shared with the Ephesians so that they also can have christ dwelling in them.

Chapter 4

Paul describes the unity of the God’s spirit which is designed to make us all one in a common faith. This is done by putting off the old man and putting on the new.

Chapter 5

Paul lists the characteristics of the old man that need to be put away because it cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Then he uses the example of the relationship of wives and husbands to describe the proper relationship of christ and the church.

Chapter 6

Paul continues to describe proper relationships between children and parents and masters and servants in light of the fact that we fight against spiritual wickedness and must be spiritually clothed for that battle.
