Chapter 1

Paul describes God’s comfort related to his despair about the struggles in the Corinthian church as he explains his heartfelt desire to be with them to support their spiritual growth.

Chapter 2

The church had a divided allegiance with the arrival of teachers who opposed Paul and Paul was hoping to bring that to an end so that he could continue to preach the gospel in every place.

Chapter 3

The spiritual progress of the Corinthians is the proof of the effect of Paul’s preaching because of the enlightenment through the law of liberty compared with the hidden knowledge of the Moses law.

Paul describes his ministry and the persecutions he has suffered for the sake of the Corinthians.

The spiritual treasure is not in this physical life, but in the heavenly which is Paul’s ministry focus so that the Corinthians can be reconciled back to God.

Paul lists the things he has suffered in order to preach the gospel then warns the Corinthians not to be unequally yoked to unbelievers so that they are not drawn away from what they have accomplished spiritually.

Chapter 7

Paul describes his boldness toward the Corinthians despite the tribulations he has suffered. His goal in his last letter was not to condemn the Corinthians, but to cause repentance and he rejoices that they have repented.

Paul describes the generosity of the Macedonians and desires that the Corinthians would feel the same willingness.

Chapter 9

Paul wants to ready the Corinthians for his upcoming trip when he will bring some of the Macedonians to witness their progress. He hopes they will be generous so that all will benefit from the work.

Chapter 10

Paul explains that the spiritual warfare which we fight is not against others, but is against spiritual powers. He writes his letters hoping the people will do the spiritual work while his is away so that when he visits they will have a joyful visit.

Chapter 11

Paul is jealous over the Corinthians because of the burden God placed on him toward them and was careful about his own example which is why he didn’t didn’t take financial support from them but had other churches support him while he ministered to them.

Chapter 12

Paul practiced humility so that he wouldn’t become lifted up with pride because of the revelations God had given him and he will continue to spend for the Corinthians to support their continued growth.

Chapter 13

Paul talks about the power of christ crucified in the Corinthians and tells them they should continue to examine themselves and prove their own faith so that he doesn’t have to correct them face to face.
