John
Chapter 1
John provides an introduction to God’s work with mankind, John the baptist’s ministry to prepare people for the messiah, Jesus’ arrival as the messiah, Jesus’ baptism by John, the calling of several disciples.
Chapter 2
Marriage in Cana and turning water to wine, driving out the money changers in the temple, Jesus foretells of his death and resurrection.
Chapter 3
Jesus and Nicodemus, John the baptist’s witness of Jesus as the christ.
Chapter 4
The woman at Jacob's well, the nobleman’s son healed.
Chapter 5
The healing at the pool of Bethesda, dispute with the Jews about his authority.
Chapter 6
Feeding of the five thousand, Jesus walks on the water, I am the bread of life, some followers reject, Peter’s testimony.
Chapter 7
Jesus’ brothers' unbelief, Jesus teaching in the temple, Pharisees begin to plot against him.
Chapter 8
The woman caught in adultery, Jesus disputes with the Pharisees.
Chapter 9
Jesus heals the man blind from birth.
Chapter 10
Jesus is the good shepherd, Jesus disputes with the Jews about being the son of God.
Chapter 11
Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, chief priests and Pharisees council how to get rid of Jesus, Caiaphas prophesies Jesus’ death.
Chapter 12
Mary anoints Jesus’ feet, Jesus rides into Jerusalem on the colt of an ass, Jesus glorified by God, many chief rulers believe but hide their faith
Chapter 13
Jesus washes the disciples' feet after the passover meal, prophesies of Judas' betrayal and Peter’s denial.
Chapter 14
Jesus expounds his final thoughts to the disciples, I am the way the truth and the life, God will send the comforter when Jesus is gone.
Chapter 15
I am the vine and ye are the branches, I have called you friends, if the world hate me it will hate you too, the comforter will come.
Chapter 16
Jesus is going away, the spirit of truth will remind them of all that Jesus taught them, in that day you shall ask the Father, I have overcome the world.
Chapter 17
Jesus’ prayer to his Father to protect his followers.
Chapter 18
Jesus arrested, Peter’s denial, Jesus before Caiaphas, before Pilate, condemned instead of Barabbas.
Chapter 19
Soldiers scourge Jesus, returned to Pilate, crucified, garments parted, died, his body buried by Joseph of Arimathea.
Chapter 20
Jesus’ resurrection, empty tomb seen by Mary Magdalene then Peter and John, appearance to Mary Magdalene in the garden, then to the ten disciples, then to Thomas.
Chapter 21
Jesus appearance to the disciples at the sea of Tiberius while fishing, Jesus confronts Peter about his denials, confusion about John’s ministry.
