Galatians

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. – Gal. 5:1

Chapter 1

Paul begins his letter to the Galatians by describing his faith journey and encourages his readers not to waver from the gospel message he has taught them.

Chapter 2

Paul describes his time with Peter, James and John to confirm that his gospel was the same as theirs. He describes his confrontation with Peter about interacting with the gentiles because anyone can be justified by faith regardless of background.

Chapter 3

Paul expresses concern that the Galatians were persuaded to return to the requirements of the Jewish law. He builds the case that God made the promise of eternal life to Abraham’s faith before there was even a law to follow.

Chapter 4

Paul reminds them of the purpose of Jesus’ life, being sent to bring redemption from the law so mankind could become heirs of eternal life. Then he reprimands them for wanting to go backward to bondage under the law.

Paul again encourages his readers to remain in the liberty of grace and to treat each other with godly love.

Paul explains that everyone will reap what they sow and encourages them to focus on works of faith rather than works of the flesh.
