Chapter 1

Paul greets the church in love and thanksgiving and then explains he was compelled to write his letter because of their quarreling and division.

Paul explains the difference between the wisdom of man and the wisdom of God, then describes the difference between the spirit of man and the spirit of God.

Paul confronts the divisions in the Corinthian church and explains that they are not at the spiritual level that they should be because they were still focused on superficial distinctions between believers.

Paul begins by chastising the Corinthians about suing each other in civil courts, then deals with fornication that was also occurring in the church.
